First homesteaded in 1885 the farm was home to Mr. and Mrs. Ira Kirk
until the late 30's and
was farmed by their son Keith until David and Joy bought it in 2006.
The farm has
class 2 Newdale clay loam and 100 ac. of the 320 ac. are sloughs.
We began with
renovating the house. We gutted the inside, put in new electrical,
plumbing, boiler, insulation, drywall, then the kitchen and bath. We had a new roof, new doors and
windows installed and brought in new appliances. The freezer was too big
to get out of the basement so it is now one of four we fill full of garden produce
and meat.
The barns
got new roofs and we buried waterlines as well as power lines to the
barns.
